It's the unluckiest day of the year
If you've been scared to leave the house today, you may not be alone. It's Friday the 13th, but what makes it so unlucky?
One theory states that the supposedly unlucky day stems from the combination of two older superstitions. In numerology, the number 12 is considered divinely arranged or complete such as 12 hours on a clock, 12 months in a year or the significant use of the number throughout the Bible. Dating back to the 14th century, Friday has been considered a bad day to begin a journey or start a new project. Put the two together and you have what many consider the unluckiest day of the year.
The fear of this day is called friggatriskaidekaphobia. And you'll have a little time to prepare for the next Friday the 13th. It won't happen again until February next year.
