The Izaak Walton Leagueâ??s Jr. Trap is set to kick off Tuesday evening depending on the weather.
Boys and girls over the age of ten can come out to learn how to shoot guns at targets. Participants can bring their own guns or learn on a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun the league provides. Organizers say this is a course for both beginners and experienced shooters. Three instructors supervise the event, teaching gun safety, camaraderie and sportsmanship, concentration and focus.
â??It just gets more fun every year because you watch the kids grow from the first year they start the to the first three or four years,â?? Rick Findling, Izaak Walton Leagueâ??s Trap Chair, said. â??We have them from age 11 to 18, so they can stay with us for several years to shoot.â??
The Junior Trap will be held every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for the next eight weeks. You pay a one-time $75 fee, which has you covered from the week you start until they wrap up at the end of July. Members can sign up for half-price.
