The Jefferson County Fair is in full swing, holding its fifth day of fun-filled events.
This is the second to last day of the fair, and organizers say they are pleased with the turnout so far. On Saturday, some of the events included a â??Tropical Illusionsâ?? magic show, a watermelon seed spitting contest--dog, cat and rabbit shows, along with owners showing off larger animals like cows and horses. Some just came out to enjoy the fair food, games and rides. The Jefferson County Fair Board President Steve Friction says the tractor pull was only activity that was cancelled due to the rain, which they plan to reschedule. If you haven't made it out to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, you can still come out on Sunday.
â??Tomorrow is sort of the nightcap of our entertainment,â?? Friction said. â??We have the horse show; we have an open cattle show, and at 6:30 we have the demo derby, which is a really big hit around here.â??
Discounted carnival armbands are available after 1p.m. Sunday, and here is a link to the full list of activities going on the final day of the Jefferson County Fair.
