Keokuk man gets probation in vehicular homicide case
Wed, 31 Jul 2013 16:19:58 GMT — A Keokuk man originally charged with vehicular homicide has pleaded guilty to lesser charges and has been sentenced to probation. The Burlington Hawk Eye reports that 20-year-old Devin Lewis pleaded guilty Tuesday to operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a fatality accident. He was given five years of probation, drug court and community service. The Lee County Sheriff's Office initially found that Lewis was driving his pickup the wrong way on U.S. 218 in October, hitting a car driven by 35-year-old Howard Vincent, of Keokuk, who died at the scene. But further investigation revealed it was Vincent who was driving the wrong way.
