The Keosauqua Christian Church held a Clothing Giveaway that kicked off Wednesday morning and wrapped up Saturday afternoon.
The church's Women's Fellowship has been organizing the giveaway for the past decade or so. The ladies had lots of clothes sorted and ready for people to browse at the store and take home what they liked. Clothing for men, women, boys and girls was on display--from toddler to adult sizes. Organizers say the mornings were usually their busiest times, but with the RAGRBRAI festivities, the clothing giveaway was a bit slower.
"Well people, some of them have been so responsive and so thankful," organizer Goldie Davis said. "A lady down at Bentonsport said I sure hope you guys keep this up. It has been such a benefit to so many people."
While the clothing was free, Davis says they did give people the option to donate what they could. Those funds go to benefit the Women's Fellowship group at the church. Volunteers plan to donate the remaining items to various shelters and people in need of them.
