Kids got a friendly close look at the world of chemistry.
Students packed the Adair County Public Library Tuesday morning for a "Chem-istration." The guest speaker was Jesse Barton of Kirksville High School.
He did experiments on the library lawn in oxidation-reduction and atomic emission spectra from metal getting caught on fire to even putting a gummy bear in a test tube of chemicals.
The chemistry teacher also showed how chromatography worked with different elements.
Another cool experiment was a demonstration of sodium as a heat producer when he electrocuted a pickle.
