Some Heartland kids had a science lesson while having fun on this Saturday.
The Kirksville High School Science Club held a DNA learning experiment at the Adair County Public Library.
Kids of all ages helped club members in a fun chemistry experiment by removing and extracting DNA from strawberries to help teach kids the basic information behind our genetics.
"For the kids, DNA isn't something they understand, but to see that everything has genetic material, that's the take home message for all the kids that came by today," said Kirksville High School science teacher Erin Mcalcany.
This was the first time the Kirksville High School Science club held an science learning event at the library.
The club is planning to do more fun science experiments there in the future.
