On a cold Friday night, the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce took ??a stroll in the sand" as officials celebrated their Board of Directors, members and volunteers with an annual banquet.
Chamber members dressed in luau-themed clothing as they celebrated 99 years of serving community businesses. There was an awards ceremony, as well as dinner and cocktail hour for all in attendance.
Executive Director, Sandra Williams says this night is about recognizing those who support the growth in local businesses.
??We'll be recognizing both our retiring board members and we'll hear from our outgoing and incoming presidents and we will also have a person of the year award this evening and also a people's choice,?? said Williams.
There was both a profit and non-profit category for the People's Choice award. Those receiving the awards were given cash prizes; however, the profit organization chose a non-profit organization to receive its cash prize.
