The Kirksville Arts Association will introduce a traveling exhibition Thursday.
"50 Years of Wilderness" is organized by the Missouri Sierra Club. It celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Federal Wilderness Act.
The traveling exhibit features a photo journey to the eight Missouri wilderness areas.
Attendees can also expect a regional twist with this exhibit.
â??It's going through several cities but we decided to incorporate a call for artists about their interpretation and appreciation of the wild. There are two portions to the exhibit that we have up,â?? said Sharon Pritchard, a member of the Visual Arts Committee.
The photographs were taken by Richard Spener and his wife, Toni Armstrong. Spener is a nature and wildlife photographer.
Some of his work can be seen in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, National Wildlife Federation and Audubon Society of Missouri.
The â??50 Years of Wildernessâ?? will be on display beginning August 21 through October 31.
Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
