Kirksville Arts Association mural celebrates first birthday

The Kirksville Arts Association is celebrating a first birthday.

The mural art on the outside of the building has been complete for a year. Members of the association took advantage of the beautiful Friday afternoon weather to thank community members that helped with the project. It took countless hours and hundreds of volunteers to complete the mural. The mural was created to help spruce up the outside of the building. It has also become a talking point for passers-by.

"Everyone that walks by stops and looks, and that's really what we did it for was to create some excitement and some visual appeal, and to create some memories," said Arletta Nelson, Kirksville Arts Association President.

The Arts Association also hosted an open reception Friday evening for 'Images in Abstract.' The Kirksville Arts Association is located on South Franklin Street, and is open to visitors to come check out different artworks.
