A Kirksville church will be holding a community Christmas dinner, complete with all of the fixings on Christmas Day.
First United Methodist Church will be hosting the 17th Annual Community Christmas Dinner Wednesday afternoon. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no charge for the meal. The doors of the church open at 1 o'clock on Christmas afternoon. The food is provided by church members and is also donated by volunteers around the area. The community dinner allows residents to get together and celebrate the Christmas holiday together, while enjoying some delicious food, all at the same time.
"We just have a free dinner that's open to the public. This is really for anyone who wants fellowship and food on Christmas. We believe no one should be alone or hungry, especially on Christmas, so we offer this dinner that's free and open to anyone," said Caitlin Pennington, dinner co-coordinator.
For those unable to drive, transportation to and from the church dinner will be provided by members of the First United Methodist Church on Washington Street in Kirksville.
