In response to the recent violence and discord in Ferguson, Mo., members of Trinity Episcopal Church-Kirksville are organizing a candlelight prayer service this Sunday, August 17 at 8 p.m. on the church grounds.
Trinity is located at 124 N. Mulanix Street, at the corner of Harrison and Mulanix. The service will be located on the grounds immediately to the east of the church building.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own candles, however, additional candles will be available for those unable to bring their own.
A free-will offering will be taken to support ministries in the St. Louis metro area that are working to bring peace to, and promote dialog in, the currently divided community. All members of the community are welcome.
Sundayâ??s service aims to provide an outlet to people in Kirksville and the surrounding community to express their solidarity with those grieving in Ferguson while encouraging productive dialog and thoughtful reflection on this and other issues of social justice which cross racial, religious, and regional lines.
For more information on the service you may contact the Rev. Johnnette Shane, Vicar, here.
