Kirksville City Council holds 2014 budget public hearing

The Kirksville City Council held a presentation and public hearing on the proposed 2014 budget.

The 2014 proposed budget is calling for $37.5 million in expenses, which is almost $4.3 million dollars more then the proposed 2013 budget. Although more significant, the upcoming years budget will be going toward capital improvements, including different utilities, sewer improvements, and waste water improvements.

"We have $1.4 million on sewer improvements, and then $7.5 million alone just on the waste water plant, and then another close to a million on engineering services that are related to the sewer improvements," said Mari Macomber, Kirksville City Manager.

The second and final reading of the 2014 budget is scheduled for Monday, December 16th, at 6:00pm. Kirksville citizens are encouraged to pick up a copy of the proposed budget at City Hall.
