The Kirksville City Council met Monday night and discussed a variety of topics.
The council voted to approve a lease agreement. The lease agreement is between North-Scout Aviation Inc. and the City of Kirksville for property located at the Kirksville Regional Airport. The lease price is set at just over $1,000.
North-Scout is a maintenance and avionics shop. They plan to move to the airport this coming September. This will also bring four to five more jobs to the area. North-Scout will make the repair of planes easier for those in the area, as well as for Cape Air.
"Most guys around here, most people have to go somewhere in Kansas or somewhere like that to get their avionics worked on, so that'll be a big plus for us, bring a lot more aircrafts to the airport, and Cape Air has also showed interest in contracting with them to work on their aircrafts as well," said Airport Director Glenn Balliew.
The city council also approved the purchase of a new track loader from Gateway Bobcat of Missouri Inc. That piece of equipment will help the Public Works Department.
