Kirksville has a new assistant city manager

Angie Whisnant introduced herself to the group as the new Kirksville Assistant City Manager at the Lakes, Parks, and Recreation Committee meeting Tuesday.

The city of Kirksville has a new member on the team.

At Tuesday afternoon's monthly meeting of the Kirksville's Lakes, Parks and Recreation Committee, Angie Whisnant introduced herself to the group as the new Assistant City Manager.

Whisnant said it has been a busy but productive first few days and she is looking forward to making a difference in the community.

"I want to continue to further the city's mission as to what the expectations are for the position...economic development, parks and rec, community development. Following the commission's expectations and going further from there," Whisnant said.

Whisnant is originally from southern Illinois and says the people here in northeast Missouri have been very welcoming.

Whisnant replaces former Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith who left the position in July.
