The Kirksville High School Class of 2014 graduates will finally have a home field advantage.
The graduation ceremony was previously held at Pershing Arena on the campus of Truman State University, but this year the school is holding an outdoor ceremony for the first time ever.
The recent renovations and expansion of the stadium has made it possible to accommodate more people.
The Kirksville School Board said this will bring special meaning to the school.
"I think if you have it on campus, it certainly connects the students with their home school. We've had a long working relationship with Truman State. They've been very gracious to allow us to have our graduation in their facilities," said Kirksville R-III Schools Superintendent Pat Williams.
Pershing Arena will still be a back-up for the graduation.
The weather of course will be the determining factor. The school board will be keeping a close eye on the forecast days leading up to the ceremony.
