Kirksville High School presents 'The Sound of Music'

Kirksville High School's "The Sound of Music" opened Thursday night.

You may have heard that one of the major networks is attempting a live remake of the classic musical "The Sound of Music," but this weekend Kirksville High School students are performing their own rendition of the popular musical.

Thursday was opening night and the auditorium at Matthews Middle School was packed.

Over 100 students took to the stage this evening, including the cast, crew and orchestra.

After weeks of after-school rehearsals, the chemistry among the cast is clear.

â??It's been a great time. We have big cast, it's a family event, the kids get close. They just have a good time. It's one of those memories that they make and talk about for years to come,â?? said director Denise Clark.

Itâ??s not too late to see the show! Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.
