Kirksville hotel business continuing to boom
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Hotel business in one Heartland city is continuing to boom.
In October, the new Holiday Inn Express in Kirksville officially opened its doors.
That hotel is located on South Franklin Street.
Construction on the building started in the spring of 2016.
The price tag on the project totaled between 6 and 7 million dollars.
According to city documents, the manager of the hotel says business is doing well.
City staffers now hope to discuss plans with the manager about further developing the property.
This new hotel is located a short distance north of its original location.
The former Holiday Inn Express has been renamed the Kirksville Inn and Suites.
That hotel does not yet have an online presence, but hopes to have a site up and running soon.
As for the construction of the Hampton Inn and Suites on the north side of town - that project is still progressing.
That hotel is being built behind Ruby Tuesday on North Baltimore Street.
City staffers say that a new crew has been hired to complete work on the building.
Construction on the Hampton Inn began in May 2016.
According to the company website, reservations for the arrival of March 25, 2018 and beyond are currently being accepted.
