Area youngsters spent Tuesday morning singing and dancing at a special concert.
The concert was held as part of 'The Week of the Young Child' at the Rotary Park Amphitheatre in Kirksville. This was the 9th annual Concert for Kids. The youngsters clapped along to guitar and harmonica playing. Musicians also sang some familiar songs and ended the show by teaching the audience new tunes. This special week allows both kids and adults to have fun.
"Week of the Young Child is amazing because I think we all need to embrace what it is about being young and how important education is at an early age," said Heather Darrah, Kirksville Recreation Specialist.
The next event on schedule for 'The Week of the Young Child' is a storybook hike and bike trail Wednesday morning.
A Storybook Trail will be set up on the hike/bike trail between the Kirksville High School and Primary School. The trail will be available starting at 10 a.m. Thursday is Park Scavenger Hunt Day. Scavenger hunts may be printed off the City's Website www.kirksvillecity.com. Finally, on Friday night starting at 6, a family fun night and dance will be held at the Ray Klinginsmith Amphitheatre in Rotary Park.
