Kirksville kids celebrating Halloween a few days early

Families from all over the Heartland are celebrating Halloween a few days early.

The Kirksville Parks and Recreation Committee held their annual Children's Halloween Carnival at the Kirksville Primary School Saturday.

Kids came in their costumes and got lots of free candy while also having a blast with lots of fun stuff such as arts and crafts, a magic show, and face painting.

Organizers wanted the kids to have lots of pre-Halloween fun.

"It is certainly a safe way to celebrate Halloween. We encouraged families and kids to come out today. Lots of them have. It's a great way to spend time with your family in a fun safe atmosphere," said Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith.

There were lots of games to play such as the pumpkin walk and ring toss.

Organizers also wanted to remind kids on the importance of safety when going out Trick-or-Treating this Halloween, so families can have a safe and fun time.
