A Kirksville man was crushed to death Monday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Potter Trail just outside Kirksville right before 8 p.m. Monday.
Bill Ramsey, 65, of Kirksville, had been working underneath a large vehicle frame, perhaps a semi frame, cutting it up, when the frame fell over on top of him and pinned him beneath it.
About half a dozen emergency responders lifted the frame off of Ramsey.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Adair County Coroner Brian Noe.
Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick said that Ramseyâ??s wife had been trying to reach him by cell phone for quite awhile.
His body was discovered under the frame at approximately 7:45 p.m. Monday.
The incident has been ruled an accident, and no autopsy will be performed.
Noe said the cause of death is suffocation.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville.
The funeral home told KTVO that a memorial service for Ramsey is set for 3 p.m. Thursday at Christ Family Church at 531 North Baltimore Street in Kirksville.
