Kirksville man facing sodomy charges

Earl L. Turner

Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson is changing two counts in the case against a Kirksville man. Earl L. Turner, 45, now has two charges of second degree sodomy added to his count of first degree burglary. The two charges allege that Turner forced his victim to perform an unwanted sexual act.

Turner was arrested at the end of October after police responded to a reported break-in and alleged rape at a residence in Kirksville. The victim alleged that Turner came inside the residence to use the phone after his car broke down. That's when the victim said he attacked.

Police caught Turner near the scene and the victim identified him from a lineup.

A preliminary hearing for Turner is set for Nov. 21. He is being held at the Adair County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond.
