Kirksville not seeing an increase in heroin addiction

Heroin use and addiction is becoming a growing problem with a new generation.
The use of heroin has seen great fluctuation over the years. Part of that is because of distribution and price. Law enforcement says that in some locations, the price of heroin is now lower then other drugs, including meth. That is why the use of the drug is on the rise. However, Kirksville has not seen an increase in the use of heroin in a number of years.
"We are not naive enough not to think that it couldn't happen here, but at this point in time it's not been a major issue for us," said Chief Jim Hughes of the Kirksville Police Department.
While Kirksville has avoided the heroin epidemic up to this point, in some places, heroin addiction now appears to be at an all-time high.
