Parents of the junior class at one Heartland high school spent Friday evening hosting a soup supper and silent auction.
Parents of the junior class at Kirksville High School are helping to fundraise for the annual 'After Prom' event scheduled to be after the high school prom in May.
The fundraiser allows parents, students, and teachers to come out and enjoy homemade soups and desserts.
Those who attended also had the chance to bid on various items including t-shirts and gift cards at the silent auction.
The 'After Prom' provides a safe alternative for students that still want to have fun with their friends, without putting their lives at risk.
"It's just really important. Who wants to get that call in the middle of the night that something has happened to their child, I mean that's just horrific. I can't even imagine," said Tanya Playle, a co-chair of the 'After Prom.'
All proceeds raised from the soup supper and auction will go towards fees for entertainment, food, and prizes for the Kirksville 'After Prom.'
