The Kirksville Primary School will be seeing some improvements in the near future.
The Primary School will be receiving a new roof in the late spring. The roof that is currently on the building is the original roof from the late 90's. A bidding process for companies to replace the roof will begin in the next couple of months. The estimated cost to replace the roof is between $300,000 and $400,000 and the repair will be completed in phases.
"This area that we are looking at is starting to age, and we will see some failure in the future if we don't tend to it, so our plan has always been to attend to these things before they become problematic and more expensive," said Pat Williams, Superintendent of the Kirksville R-III Schools.
The school district plans to repair all of the schools roofs over the next 25 years.
