Kirksville recognized for strong financial reporting
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
For more than three decades, the City of Kirksville has achieved high financial success.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has recognized the city for 31-years in a row with a "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award."
A press release from GFOA states the award reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principals of a governmental budget.
In order to receive the award, the city had to meet a number of nationally recognized guidelines.
Examples of those guidelines include: having a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
City documents state the budget must be rated "proficient" in those categories to receive the award.
