Kirksville Rotary Club donates money for individuals taking citizenship tests
The Kirksville Rotary Club is helping individuals learn English as a second language.
The Rotary Club has donated to the Adult Literacy Center in Kirksville. The center is helping teach English as a second language for individuals that are preparing to take a citizenship test.
The Rotary Club donated $200, which will go towards purchasing books and other materials to help students prepare for the exam. The exam consists of a history test, interview and an essay.
"Everyday you probably walk into a store here in town and hear someone speaking a different language, and it's important to inform them that it's ok," said Tom Deblauw, Director of Adult Education at the Adult Literacy Center.
The Adult Literacy Center is always looking for more people to participate in the English as a second language course. To sign-up or to find more information, please call the Adult Literacy Center at (660) 665-2865 extension 32.
