Kirksville school board looks into providing on campus health center
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —
Here in the Heartland, incorporating a school based health center was one main topic of discussion at Thursdays Kirksville R-III board meeting.
Board members are looking into providing a health center on campus that students can go to whenever they feel ill during the school day.
While board members say the health center could keep kids from missing more school days and also provide parents with more accessibility to their children's health care, members are still investigating all of the concerns from cost to day to day logistics.
Superintendent, Damon Kizzire says not only would the health center look into physical health, but also mental health.
“And if that can be provided right here on campus for us, it would be that much better for our students, our staff and even getting them back into class on time.”
Kizzire says implementing the health center would be close to a two year process.
