Kirksville School Board members met for the first time since the start of the new school year.
There, the members learned how the students performed on the ACT Tests during the past school year. 66 percent of Kirksville 11th graders took the exam. The school district continues to test above state standards. The composite score for the Show-Me-State is 21.8, and Kirksville students scored 22.5. School staff are thrilled that the students continue to set the bar high when testing.
"It shows what a phenomenal job our students and staff do in trying to prepare these kids for college and or their career opportunities, so it's really an exciting thing to see that just year after year, we are performing above and beyond state standards," said Dr. Damon Kizzire, Kirksville R-III Schools Superintendent.
School board members also discussed purchasing hand-held radios to be used by staff members. This way, teachers and administrators could remain in contact if an emergency situation were to occur.
