Kirksville is once again participating in the 'Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday'.
The holiday will be occurring April 19th through midnight on April 25th. Missouri, Adair County, and Kirksville city sales tax will be exempted on the sale of Energy Star certified appliances. Only appliances approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency and US Department of Energy are eligible for the tax exemption. Appliances eligible include washers and dryers, water heaters, dishwashers, and refrigerators.
"For the state it does a couple of things. One it hopefully will entice people to get rid of the energy hogs and put in more energy efficient appliances, and it also is a chance to save some money," said Mark Kruger, President/Owner of Kelly's Furniture in Kirksville.
Just a reminder, the sales tax holiday will be occurring April 19th through midnight April 25th. A complete list of appliances that are eligible include: clothes washers and dryers, water heaters, trash compactors, dishwashers, conventional ovens, ranges, stoves, air conditioners, furnaces, refrigerators, and freezers.
