Kirksville youngsters learn from 'workers on wheels'

Kirksville youngsters have a new perspective of what it's like to have a service job.

Kirksville Primary School students spent the beautiful day with some 'workers on wheels.' This is the 6th year the school has held the event. Members of the Kirksville Fire Department, Police Department, Adair County Ambulance District, and Ameren Missouri were in attendance to teach the kids about what they do everyday. Schwan's Ice Cream Delivery was also there to hand out tasty treats to the students. The youngsters had the chance to climb in some of the different vehicles and ask questions.

"Well I'm learning how the fire truck works and how the police car works, and what they do for our nation," said Tonya Biston, a Kirksville Primary School Student.

Kirksville Primary School Guidance Counselor, Diana Meinhardt says this is a great event for kids of all ages. The day helps the youngsters start thinking about potential careers.
