The outdoor pool at Kirksvilleâ??s Aquatic Center is getting a makeover. The pool floor is getting resurfaced and painted for the up and coming 2013 season. The pool workers must first sand blast the surface which is underway right now to remove the old layer of paint. After the paint is removed, workers will then be able to begin painting the pool floor. The Aquatic Center will also be touching up paint in other areas of the pool as well to give the outdoor area a more fresh and vibrant look.
â??We are currently in the process of repainting the outdoor pool out here at the Kirksville Aquatic Center. This is the first time we have had this professionally redone since the pool was built in 1998. So, it's definitely long overdue. We look forward to seeing it improve the quality of our pool. We've been chasing paint chips and cracks for quite a while. So, it will make things a little safer. They're also adding a non slip surface to everything that is five foot and under. So, we've had a lot of problems with falls and slips. So we will be able to slow that down a little bit,â?? said Robin Harden, a Recreation Specialist for the City of Kirksville.
All of the pool work should be finished by the start of the 2013 swimming season.
