Kohl's job fair attracts many applicants
Many in Ottumwa are looking forward to the new Kohlâ??s opening in September not only for a new place to go shopping, but for the more than 100 jobs it will be bringing to the community.
Numerous hopeful applicants came to the Iowa WORKS Center at the North Indian Hills Campus Saturday for group interviews for various retail positions at the new store.
The interviews went on throughout the day starting at 10:45 a.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m.
Those applying said they are thankful Kohlâ??s has landed in Ottumwa and for the opportunity to interview for a position with the store.
â??I got a flyer in the mail that said Kohl's was hiring -- here's the number to call and I was like ok. I was excited. Iâ??ve been looking for a job for a couple of months -- time to get on my feet and move on from my parents,â?? said Lacey Sthakel, applicant.
According to Ottumwa City Administrator, Joe Helfenberger, Kohlâ??s is on schedule to open in September. Workers have been working hard this summer on construction of the new building.
