Market on Main in downtown Ottumwa is another $100,000 closer to its construction goal thanks to South Ottumwa Savings Bank.
KTVO got a sneak peak inside of the building located at the corner of Main and Jefferson Streets that is set to open in early 2014.
Market on Main Director said although it may not look like thereâ??s been a lot of progress, there has been a lot of behind the scenes work with grant writing and construction bids.
In less than a year, what looks like an old building now will be a thriving local year-round indoors farmers market.
â??Behind us we'll have the biggest part of the market, what everybody's heard about: the year-round indoor farmers market so that we have a year-round supply of fresh produce, those sorts of things for our community. We'll then also supplement that on the far back wall with our small-scale locally owned grocery store. We'll have things like meats, cheeses, all of your dairy products, bulk products, breads, anything we can find locally around we will have here in the market for the community to purchase,â?? said Ware.
On the far right of the space will be business style incubators which will be similar to a food court. All of the restaurateurs will be Ottumwa based.
