The League of Women Voters will hold the first of three legislative forums on Saturday, February 1 at the Bridge View Center.
State Senators Mark Chelgren and Ken Rozenboom and State Representatives Mary Gaskill and Larry Sheets are scheduled to attend. Audience members will have a certain amount of time to ask a question and each legislator will have equal amount of time to answer.
The League encourages everyone to meet the people working for them in Des Moines and voice opinions on issues that matter most.
"It is a chance for everyone to get to meet their legislators up close and personal and ask their questions," said Beverly VerSteegh, President of the League of Women Voters. "We do encourage everyone to come because we truly believe an informed public can make better decisions when they go to the ballot box."
Saturday's forum will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the studio at the Bridge View Center.
"They don't have to stay for the whole forum," said League Secretary and Head of Voter Services Jean Dell. "Other people have other obligations, so as much time as they can come, we'd love to have them."
The League has never cancelled a forum in the past due to weather, so they are planning on going forward with the event Saturday despite the snow, unless it is not safe for people to be on the roads.
The next two forums will be held March 1 and April 5.
