Leaking outdoor pool might cause possible opening delay
The season opening of the Kirksville Aquatic Center's outdoor pool might be delayed a few days.
Crews recently discovered a leak in the pool after they noticed the water levels going down.
The exact location hasn't been determined, but officials believe it is somewhere around the slide area.
The opening of the outdoor pool is scheduled to be this holiday weekend, but it may have to be pushed back in order to get the problem fixed.
"We have to find the leak and get it fixed before we are able to open and be able to maintain our water level. Then it will take us a couple of days to get our chemicals balanced and pool ready to open," said Kirksville Assistant City Manager.
Smith says the city always faces the possibility of having issues with the outdoor pool every year, especially after the winter season.
In the past two years, they've run into other issues such as seams leaking and pipes bursting.
We'll let you know as soon as we receive word from city officials when the outdoor pool at the Kirksville Aquatic Center will be opening.
