If you are an aspiring future business owner who wants to start a small business in the area, you may be interested in taking a class this week.
Dan Hamlet of the Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center is offering a class called Staring A Business: The First Steps at the Economic Development Alliance Building in Kirksville this Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30.
During the three hour class, participants will learn how to put together a business plan and identify resources to assist in starting a business. They will also learn the 12 most common reasons why a business fails so they can find their strengths and weakness to improve on them and help their business succeed.
"It doesn't have to be that way. You don't have to be a genius to start a business. People have been running businesses as long as we had paper money and longer. We are now in a little more complex environment. There are a lot of things people do need to know to improve their chances of success," Hamlet said.
Hamlet will also discuss legal and regulatory requirements and identify sources of funding.
The class is $30 and you need to call ahead of time to register at the Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center at 660-665-3348.
