â??Dig into reading' is the Adair County Public Library summer reading theme. From May 28 through June 28 children ages 2 to 12 can sign up to read and track the time they have spent reading. Guest speakers will come and talk about some aspect of Missouri. Diane Burger with the Adair County Library said some of it will be history; some of it will be nature.
Wednesday will be for children ages 8 to 12 for the â??Dig Deeperâ?? program, which is an enrichment program. Thursday's is â??Hot Diggity.â?? â??We're starting off with a storyteller from St. Louis,â?? Burger said. "Weâ??re going to have Wild Heart come up and they sing and they dance and they bring animals with them. Weâ??re going to have a magician and we're going to have a children's musician. We're going to have Laughing Matters come back and they're juggling and mime.â??
There are several other programs throughout the week, including 'Dig into Missouri', where children can make crafts and listen to guest speakers at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Burger said at the end of the program the library will have a swimming party at the Kirksville Aquatic Center. All of the activities are free for the children.
