      Literature festival for children

      More than 1,400 fourth, fifth and sixth-grade students will be able to visit and hear from several different authors and illustrators on Friday during the Truman State University annual Children's Literature Festival.

      Visiting authors and illustrators include Marlene Brill, Matthew Cody, Carmen Agra Deedy, Kimberly Newton Fusco, Stuart Gibbs, Deborah Hopkinson, Matthew Kirby, Barbara McClintock, Sheila Oâ??Connor, Linda Urban and Judy Young.The authorsâ?? books will be available for students to purchase at the Truman State University Bookstore.

      Students will participate in 30 minute sessions and all must be pre-registered. But, for those who don't register, there is something for them as well.

      â??We do have an autograph session with all the authors from 3:00 to 4:00, so anyone can come to that,â?? said Reference Librarian Daisy Rearick. â??We have lemonade and cookies and itâ??s a great time to meet the authors that have come to be with the children.â??

      The festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
