The Thespianâ??s Club at Ottumwa High School held its annual banquet Monday evening.

The club currently has 27 members, and some were just inducted last night. Students involved in the club also took home awards like â??Best Actorâ?? and â??Best Actress.â?? A few students even won All-State Awards for being outstanding performers in the state of Iowa. The group just wrapped up its productions for the season. They did a musical version of Pinocchio in the spring, Forever Plaid and David and Lisa in the fall.

â??So last night the big thing with the closing ceremony of our banquet was announcing our show for next season,â?? Natalie Saunders, OHS Director of Theater Arts said. â??Other than our comedy team, which does improv and student written shows, we will be doing the production of the Laramie Project and in the spring we do the musical Greese.â??

To be in the Thespian Club, you have to work on at least two plays and put in a minimum of 600 hours in the Drama Department. Jacoby Clingman, Kiah Allen and Samantha Saunders are three seniors who have all put in over 1,000 hours. They plan to continue acting when the head off to college in the fall.
