A group of artists from Northeast Missouri and Southern Iowa are in the process of beginning an art guild.
The artists held their first informational meeting Thursday evening to see how many people would have an interest in joining.
The group is to be called 'MOSI' which stands for Missouri and Southern Iowa. The creation of the guild is to help provide cultural enhancement programs, and interaction with other art professionals. The group also hopes to open a gallery in the near future.
"We are very interested in the Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa area in starting an artist organization where artists can get together, share their talents, share their knowledge, help each other, motivate each other, network, and socialize," said Colleen Wagner, a member of the MOSI planning committee.
The next meeting on the formation of the guild is scheduled for early January at the Kirksville Art Center.
