Local drama team reaches state competition
We would like to congratulate Kirksville High School Drama team for their accomplishments in district competition. On March 1 and 2, The 14 member drama readerâ??s theater placed first in district competition for their interpretation of The History of Mankind by Ken Bradbery and the duet team placed second with their rendition of open to interpretation also written by Ken Bradbery.
â??Because we compete against really bigger schools, Columbia, Hickman, and Rock Bridge as well as competitive schools around Mexico, Moberly, Fulton, It's a pretty tough race and of course only one reader's theater and one one act will get to go to state so it's quite a privilege to be that one group that gets to go,â?? said Denise Clark Kirksville High School drama and english teacher.
Thatâ??s right our very own Kirksville R-III High school drama team will be headed to state competition on April 19 and 20 in Columbia, Mo. Students will be practicing non-stop until the event in April. Regardless of the outcome when the state competition finally arrives, Clark is very proud of her students and knows they will compete to their fullest.
â??We can only hope for the best and of course as a teacher and a mom I feel like I'm their mother and it's a great thing to feel that way. They're going to do well regardless of placing that's how we roll with that,â?? she said.
Break a leg Kirksville High School!
