With open enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace already going on for a month, the Northeast Missouri Health Council is here to help.
With 18 medical plans and 15 dental plans available in the northeast Missouri area, the non-profit health center has two certified application counselors available right now to schedule appointments to help people get to the website and help them apply for health insurance.
They also want to help people get the right information before they apply.
"There's a lot that people need to know before they enroll and we can help them do that. We can look at what their budget might be or what kind of plan they are looking for if they have health issues, if they have a lot of dependents, what their income level is. We can give them some guidance," said Northeast Missouri Health Council Certified Application Counselor Brenda Mitchell.
Even though there has been technical issues lately with the healthcare.gov website, Mitchell believes those issues will be resolved soon.
Mitchell also wants people to be aware of scams and that officials will never call and ask for your personal information.
If you would like to make an appointment with Northeast Missouri Health Council Certified Application Counselors Brenda Mitchell and Jocelyn Eppich to talk about or need help with Health Insurance Marketplace, call (660) 988-3669 or (660) 988-3892 from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. weekdays.
