Local kids help color the Easter season

Children from all around gathered in Ottumwa Saturday to celebrate the Easter season at the First Presbyterian Church. This is the third year the church has held the event.

There were games for all ages, delicious treats and activities to spare. The best part of the event is, it's not just for kids.

"The parents have a great time too, and it's a great opportunity for both children and the parents to kind of work together, play together, and be together," said Pastor David Klanderman.

With all the materials, kids spent the most time decorating eggs. Blake Coulter, a 9-year-old egg decorating connoiseur, gave us a tour of his egg carton.

"This one is my second favorite, my chick. It has googley eyes and a mouth. I put lots of work into my art," Blake said.

Blake's not the only one in his family who knows his way around egg decorating. He introduced his brother Tyler who also had creative eggs.

"My egg is a man, I put a smiley face and I used glitter for hair," Tyler said.

Between the do-it -yourself decorations, games and treats, kids left very satisfied.
