And theyâ??re offâ?¦
Kirksville Law Enforcement agencies ran the annual Torch Run this morning.
The run raises awareness for Special Olympics Missouri and the 2014 State Summer Games.
Over 15,000 officers run the race in 50 states and 48 countries.
â??Youâ??ve seen the students come running with the torch and itâ??s just a great opportunity to be a part of your community and something great,â?? said Officer Jason Underwood with the Kirksville Police/committee member.
Runners started at the Kirksville Motor Company and ended up at the Adair County Courthouse.
Special Olympics athletes finished off the race around the courthouse.
"My daughter inspires me to do the run. She will be eight this year so sheâ??ll be able to be an athlete for the first time,â?? said committee member Melissa Hocker. â??The smiles on their face, the determination, the teamwork, itâ??s just worth it.â??
