Local museum wins award
Every year Rural Missouri magazine publishes a best of edition of the magazine. Well the ballots have been counted and one local museum won first place in the best small town museum category. The Putnam county historical society museum in Unionville was notified this week of their state wide achievement. The Putnam county historical society museum has an eclectic variety of items that have been used or found in Putnam county like a horse drawn hearse, non electric washing machines, various pictures that date as far back as the 18 hundreds, old fashion clothing, and many more items.
â??I am just really well pleased that we've gotten this recognition and there's lots of people that have done lots of hard work as i stated before and its nice that that has been recognized. I'm very proud of the award and all the volunteers that help us and hopefully this will bring out more volunteers because without our volunteers, we would not be receiving any awards,â?? said Karen Bradshaw and Judy McDonald board members of the Putnam County Historical Society.
The Putnam county historical society will also be holding other events later this year including cemetery walk, Candy supper at the little red school house, a night of the museum.
