Local teen sets up local clothes drive

A local teenager sets out to make a difference in one Heartland community.

Sherry Hodge of Macon has been collecting clothing donations for the past three weeks. Saturday morning she gave away free clothes at Crossroads Christian Church to those in need. The project is known as "God's Closet."

Hodge got the idea to host the drive when she went to a church youth conference earlier this summer.

She made a Facebook page and her church and community stepped up to help.

"Everyone should have the opportunity to go school shopping. Everyone deserves to have new clothes for school and I know clothes is a big deal to me as a senior and I just thought everyone should get the chance to do that," said Hodge.

About 50 plus people came out to the free clothing giveaway.

Hodge hope's to make this God's Closet event an annual one.
