UPDATE: David Bittner, 46, died at Jefferson County Health Center Wednesday night as a result of being shot in the abdomen at a home in Lockridge, Iowa.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Bittner was found unresponsive at the scene.

Chief Deputy Bart Richmond told KTVO Friday the department is still conducting interviews and the investigation is ongoing.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Funeral arrangements for Bittner are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting of a Lockridge, Iowa man.

According to a sheriff's office press release, deputies responded to a 911 call on September 4, 2013, at 105 West Main in Lockridge.

When they arrived, they found David Bittner, 46, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Chief Deputy Bart Richmond would not release Bittner's condition or say if he died as a result of the gunshot.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing. No charges have been filed.

Several law enforcement agencies are assisting Jefferson County, including the Iowa State Patrol, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
