Come 2018, a familiar radio host's voice will no longer be heard across the airwaves in northeast Missouri.

After over 36 years in the business, KMEM's Rick Fischer is retiring.

Fischer has been with KMEM since the day the station signed on the air in March 1982.

He began his duties as an on-air personality and later became the news and programming director.

Fischer has also served as a commentator for high school football since the late 1980's.

He announced his plans to retire earlier this month.

Friday, December 29, KMEM will host a retirement party.

The reception will take place at the KMEM studio in Memphis, Missouri.

The station is located at 650 North Clay Street.

It is open to anyone that wishes to attend.
