The 2013 Macon County Town & Country Fair has been in full swing all week long, and Saturday was no different.
It's a fair that promises to be a fine exposition of the work of the youth of Macon County. The fair had a long list of contests and shows for cattle, sheep, swine and more. It encourages participation in youth development organizations and exhibition.
We actually had a chance to catch up with Walter Schaefer, right before his breeding show. He's been going to the fair for nine years now.
"The breeding show, which is all the animals that are going to be taken back to their heard at home and used to produce more cattle for fairs next year and also for other people to eat," said Walter.
He says his family has been active with the Macon County Fair for at least four generations. His family has sheep, cattle, chickens, swine and turkey.
The fair board is glad that the youth has shown development skills will allow them to lead richer and fuller lives.
The Macon County Fair wraps Sunday, July 14, 2013.
